Chronic Kidney Disease |
Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is the slow degradation and ultimate loss of Kidney function over time. In the early stages of Renal Insufficiency, there may be no symptoms at all and Renal Failure may takes months or years to occur. CKD may be so slow that symptoms do not seem very noticeable until there is very little Kidney function left. The final stage of Chronic Kidney Disease is called End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD). At this point, the Kidneys are no longer able to remove enough wastes and excess fluids from the body. As a result, the patient's body must be supplemented with Dialysis or a Kidney Transplant to survive.
